LOVE IS patient says the passage, love is kind.
Love can also be screaming fits of jealousy and rage.
Love can be a terror stricken heart that hears the fatal diagnosis of a loved one.
Love can be slaving away at a job you hate in order to pay the bills and put food on your children’s table.
Love is also the horrific pain and pressure during a difficult labor.
Love can be an irony when you spend incredible amounts of time picking out the perfect gift to give to your lover on the very day you find out that he is leaving you
Love is rapturous and torturous, sometimes all at once. Love can be revealing and revolting, it can also bcomee a salvation, a redemption, or a salve.
Love can be all things; it can be patient and kind, but it can also go in any other direction it chooses.
So the only question left to ask yourself then, on this Valentine’s Day is – what kind of lover are you?

With Valentine’s Day taking place this week, I couldn’t resist posting a few romance poems from a poetry book of mine. The title to the book is “Reflections of a Forgotten Mistress” and it is available through Amazon. It is published under my pen name L J. Priest.
For this day especially, may all of your loves be healthy and happy. And no matter how many people you have in your life to love, remember, you should always start by loving yourself.
MY FAVORITE SEASON
Winter is my favorite season
Come and stir me all night long
Watch the winter wonder light show
Let the chill bring forth the dawn
See the snow and ice they glisten
Feel the bite that’s in the air
Watch the cardinal wing and listen
Let the rawness show I care
Let me wrap my arms around you
Blankets warm and fire aglow
Let me show how much I love you
Stay this time and then I’ll know
Then I’ll know you truly love me
That our love will now endure
Please don’t ever try to leave me
This season now nor evermore

Few things am I aware of
But this much I know is true
That when I am with you
Mystical things begin to happen
This world with all of its fervor and energy
Slows its pace considerably
And Time as an essence
Begins to unfold itself
As the suppleness
That is your skin
Waxes back and forth
Across my body
Even as your name
From the canyons
Of my heart
Such as it is at times
When East meets West
And find in their polarities
A gathering place
For fruitful labors
A RED MUSTANG CONVERTIBLE
I went for a ride today
In a red Mustang convertible
Through the wine country
of northern California
We rode with the top down
Until the heat became too much to bear
So we relinquished ourselves to Helios
Covering our heads and seeking refuge
In shade and air conditioning
But afterwards on the way home
In the early evening hours
We again took our risk
And sped through the hills and curves
And while we blew along
The wind raced through my hair
And consistently rewound
Your name again and again
Across the sound track of my soul
