Be grateful for the small things in your life. For every little step you achieve that takes you slightly higher than what you were yesterday or the day before that, you should be giving thanks. This morning I looked on Yahoo and Google – when I did an engine search on Yahoo for “The Black Bear Diaries” – my book on Amazon was the first link that appeared. When I searched on Google, it was the second. I am so grateful for the opportunity to share with the world how I talked myself out of the emotional darkness and back to a firm grounding in reality. I am not saying that everything in my life is hunky-dory, but I learned some very valuable lessons during that time of hardship and struggle. I am grateful that with Amazon’s Kindle, I can share my experience with the world and offer a spark of hope to the people around me. If anyone out there is currently going through a tough time – please share your situation and the coping skills that you are developing along the way.
Those of us who feel driven should never stop in our pursuit of true happiness. What drives us makes us who we are. I can’t tell you the number of times that my inner spark has caused other people to feel uncomfortable or question my motives, reasons, sanity… seriously fill in the blank with whatever you wish. I have lost jobs, friends, family, lovers………. many of whom have been known to look at me with concern and say “but I thought you would have outgrown that by now”. Answer me this – how can a person outgrow themselves? What a conundrum it would be if during our maturation process, our personalities succeed in turning us into a different person than who we truly were to begin with. To me that is an insane thought. Growing up does not mean trading in who we are for someone new. It’s a shame, but until we realize who we are and what we have inside of us, many of us will never become the person we were meant to be. When you hear or see that famous expression “go for it” – that’s not a question- it’s an answer.
